Stéphane Israël, Managing Director of the AWS European Sovereign Cloud and Digital Sovereignty, is a French national and seasoned executive with extensive experience in European technology. Based in Germany, Israël is responsible for the management, operations, and expansion of the AWS European Sovereign Cloud, including infrastructure, technology, and services. He also leads AWS’s broader digital sovereignty efforts with a focus on ensuring that all AWS customers around the world have the most advanced set of sovereignty controls, privacy safeguards, and security features available in the cloud. Prior to joining AWS, he was the CEO of Arianespace, Europe’s leading satellite launch company and a launch provider for Amazon’s Project Kuiper, where he oversaw numerous successful space missions, including the launch of the James Webb Space Telescope.
