Corinne Abele
Vice Director East Asia, Germany Trade & Invest
Corinne Abele brings 25 years of professional experience in Greater China to her work on East Asia at Germany Trade & Invest. As an economist and experienced business journalist, she analyses China’s economic transformation, with a particular focus on industrial policy, innovation systems, technology markets, and the competitive dynamics affecting German companies in China and worldwide.
Since August 2026 Ms. Abele serves as Vice Director East Asia at Germany Trade & Invest’s headquarters in Berlin. From 2014 to July 2026, she headed GTAI’s Trade Information office in Shanghai; prior to that, she held the same position in Beijing from 2004 to 2012 and in Taipei from 1998 to 2004.
Ms. Abele studied in Tübingen and Nanjing and graduated from the University of Tübingen with degrees in Economics (Diploma) and Eastern European History (MA), supported by a scholarship from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes).
