Jürgen Kern
Chief Sustainability Officer, KfW Group
Jürgen Kern is the Chief Sustainability Officer of KfW Bankengruppe, where he leads the Group’s sustainability strategy and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements. He coordinates sustainability initiatives across all business areas and represents KfW in key national and European sustainability forums.
Beyond KfW, he serves on the Stakeholder Committee of Groupe Caisse des Dépôts, is a founding member of the Biodiversity Bridge, and contributes to the European Biodiversity Coalition
With over 20 years of experience in international finance and corporate strategy, Jürgen Kern has held senior roles within KfW, including Director of Corporate Strategy and Sustainability and Head of Energy for Southeast Europe. He holds a master’s degree in international economics from the University of Tübingen and studied at the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) and INSEAD Business School.
