Special Representative for the City
Jeremy is the Special Representative for the City to the Europe Union. His role is to represent the UK based financial and professional services sectors at the highest levels in Brussels and in EU Member States, with policy makers, regulators, central bankers, MEPs,
Commissioners and officials, national governments and other key opinion formers. He covers a range of EU issues, including the process of the UK leaving the EU.
Jeremy was previously a member of the British Government. He was Minister of State in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (with responsibility for British relations with Asia and Latin America) and in the Home Office (with responsibility for Crime Prevention). He was the
Member of Parliament for Taunton (2005-2015).
The son of a diplomat, Jeremy was born in London and grew up in a number of countries including Belgium, Iran and Zimbabwe. He attended Nottingham University where he was President of the Student’s Union. He is now an international advisor and Honorary Professor of International Relations at the University.
Jeremy lives with his partner Rachel and their daughter Molly in London. His interes tsinclude supporting Queens Park Rangers, American politics and twentieth century art.
